Privacy Policy
In short
LuciD has no account system, no analytics and no advertising. The developer runs no server for the app and receives no data about you or your browsing. What you do in the browser stays on your headset, except what websites and services you choose to use receive — as in any web browser.
Data stored on your device
To work as a browser, LuciD keeps the following only in the app's private storage on your headset:
- browsing history (can be switched off), bookmarks, start page tiles and open tabs;
- site permissions you granted or denied (camera, microphone, protected media);
- the list of your downloads; downloaded files are saved to the headset's Download folder;
- passwords you chose to save — encrypted with AES-256, with the key held in the headset's hardware-backed Android Keystore;
- cookies, site storage and cache created by websites, and installed extensions with their data;
- your settings.
You can delete history, cookies and site data, cache, downloads list and permissions at any time in Settings → Clear browsing data. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
Private windows
Private windows do not record history, sessions or permissions. Their cookies and site data are kept in memory only and are erased when the last private tab closes.
Connections the browser makes
- Websites you visit receive the usual information any browser sends (such as your IP address and browser type). Their own privacy policies apply.
- Search: text you type in the address bar that is not an address is sent to the search engine selected in Settings.
- Ad blocking lists: filter lists you enable (for example EasyList) are downloaded from their publishers about once a week.
- Extensions: extensions are installed from addons.mozilla.org, operated by Mozilla. The browser engine contacts Mozilla services to check for extension updates and security blocklists.
- Site icons are downloaded from the site you are visiting.
Free trial and purchase
The app records on your headset the date it was first opened, to count the 7-day free trial. The full-version unlock is sold and processed by Meta through the Meta Horizon Store; the app only asks Meta whether your account owns it. LuciD never sees your payment details.
Extensions
Extensions are made by third parties. Depending on the permissions you approve when installing them, an extension may read and change the pages you visit. Review the permissions shown before you install, and the extension's own privacy policy.
Camera and microphone
The app never records on its own. A website gets the camera or microphone only after you allow it for that site. The microphone is also used for voice dictation in the address bar; speech is processed by the headset's system speech service (provided by Meta) and is not stored by LuciD.
Read aloud
Read aloud uses the headset's system text-to-speech service. The text of the page is passed to that service only when you start reading.
Children
LuciD is a general-purpose web browser with unrestricted internet access. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
