Vertex VR Video Player ("the App") is developed by Anwar Studio Official ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect user information in connection with the Vertex VR Video Player application for Meta Quest.
Summary: Vertex VR Video Player collects minimal data required for in-app purchases and platform functionality through the Meta Horizon Platform SDK. All user preferences — and any credentials you enter for your own network shares — are stored locally on your device (credentials in encrypted storage). The App can stream video from network shares (SMB) on your local network that you choose to connect to; that traffic stays within your network. We do not operate any external servers and do not share your data with third parties. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at psopala93@gmail.com.
The App does not require account creation, registration, or login. The App collects and processes the following user data through the Meta Horizon Platform SDK:
User ID – Your unique Meta platform identifier (Horizon User ID), including your profile name and username, is collected through the Meta Platform SDK. This data is used to: (1) verify your in-app purchase status and entitlements, (2) ensure that your purchase of the full version is linked to your Meta account, and (3) restore your purchase if you reinstall the App. Your User ID is processed locally on your device and through Meta’s platform services. It is not stored on any external server operated by us.
User Profile – Basic profile information (profile name, username) is accessed through the Meta Platform SDK solely for the purpose of identifying the user during in-app purchase verification. Profile data is collected but not displayed to other users, not stored on any external server, and not shared with third parties. It is used only in conjunction with User ID for entitlement verification.
User Age Group – Age group category (teen or adult) provided by the Meta platform via the Get Age Category API. This data is used to ensure compliance with age rating requirements and to provide an age-appropriate experience. We receive only a general age category (not your date of birth). This data is processed locally on your device and through Meta’s platform services.
In-App Purchase (IAP) Data – Purchase records processed through the Meta Horizon billing system to verify your access to the full version of the App. This includes transaction status and product entitlements. All financial information (such as credit card or payment details) is handled exclusively by Meta and is never accessible to us.
All of the above data is collected and processed by the App through the Meta Horizon Platform SDK. This data is processed locally on your device and through Meta’s platform services. We do not operate any external servers and do not transmit or store this data on any server owned or operated by us.
We use the collected data for the following specific purposes:
User ID – To identify your Meta account, verify your purchase of the full version, and restore your entitlements across app reinstalls.
User Profile – To identify the user during in-app purchase verification, in conjunction with User ID.
User Age Group – To comply with Meta platform age rating requirements and ensure age-appropriate content delivery.
IAP Data – To process and verify your one-time purchase of the full version of the App, and to manage your access entitlements.
The App stores the following data locally on your device only:
User preferences (display settings, playback settings) – stored in local app storage
Recently played files (file paths only) – stored in local shared preferences
Video thumbnails – cached locally on your device for faster browsing
Trial information (install timestamp, purchase status) – stored in local app storage
Network server credentials (username/password for the SMB/CIFS, WebDAV, FTP, and SFTP servers you add) – stored locally in encrypted storage (Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). These are used only to connect to the servers you specify and are never transmitted to us or any third party.
This data never leaves your device and is fully deleted when the App is uninstalled.
We do not sell, license, rent, or share any user data with third parties. The only data exchange occurs between the App and the Meta Horizon platform for the purposes of verifying purchases and age group compliance, as described in this policy. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
All locally stored data (preferences, recent files, thumbnails, trial information) is retained on your device only for as long as the App is installed. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all local data. Platform data (User ID, purchase records) is managed by Meta according to Meta’s Privacy Policy and their data retention practices.
All data stored by the App is kept locally on your device within the App’s private storage, which is protected by the Android operating system’s sandboxing mechanism. Communication with the Meta Horizon platform for purchase verification is handled through Meta’s secure platform services. We do not operate any external servers, databases, or cloud storage.
The App uses the Meta Horizon Platform SDK for in-app purchase processing and platform feature access. Purchase transactions and payment processing are handled entirely by Meta’s billing system. Please refer to Meta’s Privacy Policy for details on how Meta processes your data. The App does not integrate any other third-party services, analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
The App can play video files from your local device storage, connected USB drives, and — optionally — from network media servers on your local network that you choose to connect to, including SMB/CIFS shares, DLNA media servers, WebDAV, FTP, and SFTP servers (such as a NAS or PC). To help you find servers, the App can discover devices that announce themselves on your local network (for example, DLNA servers, using standard multicast) and can scan your local network for reachable hosts. When you connect to a server, the App communicates directly with that host over your local network to browse and stream your video files; this traffic stays within your own network and is not routed through, collected by, or stored on any server operated by us. Depending on the protocol and server you choose, some of these connections may be unencrypted over your local network, consistent with how those servers operate. Any credentials (username and password) you enter for a network server are stored only on your device in encrypted form (Android EncryptedSharedPreferences) and are never transmitted to us or any third party. Aside from the servers you specify, network access is used only for communicating with the Meta Horizon platform for purchase verification.
The App uses the Meta Quest headset’s built-in sensors — head tracking, controllers, and (optionally) hand tracking — solely to let you control and view content in VR. When hand tracking is enabled, your hand position and pinch gestures are provided by the Meta Quest system and used by the App only in real time, on your device, to move the on-screen pointer and trigger controls (point, pinch, grab, zoom). The App does not record, store, or transmit hand tracking data, and does not use it to identify you. You can turn hand tracking off in the App’s settings. If passthrough mode is enabled, camera data is processed locally by the Meta Quest system and is not accessed or stored by the App.
The App requests permission to read files from device storage in order to browse and play video files. It may also read video files from connected USB drives and from network media servers (SMB/CIFS, DLNA, WebDAV, FTP, or SFTP) you choose to connect to. The App reads files only for playback and does not modify, upload, or share your files in any way.
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to use the App. The User Age Group data collected through the Meta platform is used to verify that users meet the minimum age requirement. If you believe a child under 13 is using the App, please contact us at psopala93@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps.
Regardless of your location, you have the right to request deletion of any data associated with your use of the App. All locally stored data resides exclusively on your device. Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored data, including preferences, recent files, thumbnails, and trial information. No fees are charged for data deletion, and no justification is required.
For platform data managed by Meta (User ID, purchase records), please refer to Meta’s Privacy Policy for instructions on managing your Meta account data.
If you need any assistance with deleting your data or have questions about this process, please contact us at psopala93@gmail.com and we will be happy to help.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
